Me at MCT!

Ok…so I am sorry that it has been so long since I have posted, 2013 was a crazy year. Ok so I posted once about boot camp and I guess that is all I am going to say it was long, but not as hard as I thought it would be. So I did get hurt at boot camp so after my boot leave I went back to Parris Island for about three months. I did finally heal enough to run my OFT and go to MCT. Well mct wasn’t fun but I made it through everything. I got my actual MOS and came to my school. I am a 6114 a flight line mechanic for hues and cobras which I am pretty happy with I think I will like my job. I am at camp Pendleton so if anyone knows of some cool things to do here let me know I want to do as much as I can while I am here.
Well, change of subject my husband and I have decided to run in the Marine Corps marathon so that is what I am going to start working on as soon as possible. Anyone have any advice for my first marathon???? I don’t have a time goal or anything I just want to make it to the finish and then I will go from there. I am going to try to start blogging more often maybe once a week or so. I hope I still have some readers out there.

I’m official!!!!

Well yesterday my recruiter called me and said my waiver had been approved, and I was going back to MEPS. So, within two hours I was on the four hour trip back to MEPS. This morning I got my paperwork finished and submitted and was able to swear in. I put in my top two choices for jobs and should find out which one I get in the next two days, hopefully it will me intel. The CO of this MEPS office told me he was surprised that my parents weren’t military because I acted and spoke so well, that made me feel good about myself. So that is my good news for the day! I am really excited and can’t wait to get to boot camp.
So, I was the only person for the Marine Corps there today. I didn’t mind but every time I sat outside the office guys for other branches would come talk to me, and they said it was intimidating that I was going USMC. Two guys this afternoon also told me I was cocky so maybe I will be a good Marine, because the females have to be a little cocky.

Well I hope everyone had a good day! Ashley

Oh thank a service member for military appreciation month. I am truly thankful for all the sacrifices that have been made for this country by every past service member.

Sorry I haven’t written in about a week. So my husband and I made it to Mississippi and TMO moved all of the stuff we had left here.
So the last week for me had been busy and exciting. So on Wednesday I went to the recruiting office and got my packet ready for MEPS. Getting that together took about three hours. Then on Thursday I went back to the office and my recruiter drove me to MEPS which is about a four hour drive. I took my ASVSB on Thursday night I made a 95. On Friday I went to medical but I just had to do weight and height since I already had my physical. I took the DLAB and made a 93 which I could have scored much higher because I guessed for the entire last section. I met with the CO over the recruiting district he congratulated me on my scores and told me I could get any job I want in the Marine Corps. He also submitted my waiver. After lunch my recruiter came to get me and we made the four hour drive back. Friday night was the last night I will spend with my husband until I graduate. On Saturday we had a district pool function that had about 400 poolees at it. I ran my final IST before I leave for boot camp when we got there. I did my run in 14:03 FAH 25 seconds and they stopped me at 60 crunches. The pool function was awesome and very motivating.
We got screamed at by some still instructors which is actually motivating. I am really sunburned on my face! Well I hope everyone is doing great.

PT

Standard

Well it has been a few days since I wrote last. Well I went to my first PT at the recruiting station on Wednesday. It was much harder than I thought it would be. So, we started out by doing the IST. I have a nine second flexed arm hang, 48 crunches, and ran my mile and a half in 15:48. If you haven’t ever done that before you are tired when that is over, sand after that we did another hour of PT. So, it is two days later and I am still sore, and I am not looking forward to doing this ever Wednesday. Hopefully I will go to MEPS soon say a little prayer for me.

USMC……..

Standard

Well I went to the recruiting office again Thursday. We talked about what MOS ( job) that I would be interested in. My husband is much more comfortable with all this now. I told my husband that I am not going to talk to the Navy recruiter anymore, he is happy about that. I know that being in different branches would make living together very difficult, and I have thought about the Marine Corps for a while before my husband brought it up. So, I don’t have a date to go to MEPS but hopefully I will get one next week. Many recruiter told me that he would really like to see me at PT every week, which is his way of saying I better be there from now on. I know that I need to go it will get me ready for bootcamp but I am nervous. I really hope some other females are there. Well feel free to leave me some advice or share your stories! Oh I am thinking of aviation or Intel.

Marine Corps here I come…..

Standard

Well I have made my decision! I am meeting with my recruiter again on Thursday and I am gonna get a MEPS date. I am joining the Marine Corps. I looked at the Navy for a long time but today I decided it’s not the right choice for me. The USMC will offer me the same benefits and a challenge. They will also be able to keep me and my husband together for the most part. So wish me luck!!

Female Marine???

Standard

Well a few weeks ago as I was leaving town my husband told me that he would rather me join the marines over the navy. If you haven’t read any of my other posts my husband is in the marines. I know why he said this because being in the same branch gives us the greatest possibility of being together. Well yesterday we went and talked to a recruiter, and we have a follow up visit on Thursday. I told him that I would be fine with joining the marines because I want us to stay together. So, unless he says something to me in the next few days when we go for the follow up I am gonna set up a date to go to MEPS. Thoughts anyone??????
